Boyjazz – Unlimited Nights & Weekends
Boyjazz began in Berkeley, CA in the summer of 2002 when Adam Hobbs and Aaron Levin stumbled upon the 2 minute and 28 second blitzkreig that is Potfinger. All who heard knew something special had happened and the duo returned to the studio with a new sense of purpose. It was clear they’d need a killer live show that could keep up with the material so they assembled a line-up of the best players (and dudes) they knew featuring Eric Murriguez on Lead Guitar, Dan Brubaker on Rhythm Guitar, and Alex Pauley on Bass. Suddenly Boyjazz was a live band wowing audiences with a stadium size show for the dive bar crowd. In little time Boyjazz had made a name for themselves as one of the most exciting live bands in California being named 2003 “Band To Watch” by The San Francisco Bay Guardian.
The year 2004 saw the release of their debut album In The City Tonight on Frenetic Records to rave reviews. Hailed as a new brand of “arena rock for the indie kids” (allmusic.com),In The City Tonight garnered praise the world over and brought Boyjazz to a wider audience. Soon tracks like “Tuff Luv” had made their way into episodes of The Real World & Road Rules on MTV. One track, “Lookin for You” was even included in video game sensation Dance Dance Revolution (Ultra Mix2) and the gig offers were lining up.
For the next two years Boyjazz toured across the U.S. to astounded audiences. Opening for national acts such as The Fucking Champs, High on Fire, Goblin Cock, and countless others, Boyjazz slowly road tested new material for their as of yet unrecorded second album. By 2006 Boyjazz had enough new tracks to enter Louder Studios in San Francisco to record their follow-up with rock super producer Tim Green (Nation of Ulysees/The Fucking Champs). This would be the first recording to feature the now infamous live band and great pains were taken to capture them all analog to tape using only the finest vintage instruments and equipment.
The result is Unlimited Nights & Weekends, ten new Boyjazz originals in hi-fi glory with all of the drama, power, & good times you’ve come to expect from the boys. With more unstoppable choruses and ridiculously serious balls to the wall rock, this is a tour de force by a band in their prime. Unfortunately due to label woes and circumstances beyond their control Unlimited Nights & Weekends was shelved indefinitely . . . until today!
For Once Records has finally released Unlimited Nights & Weekends in Digital format as well as a Limited Edition Vinyl pressing of only 500 copies. The vinyl features old school cover art and liner notes by producer Tim Green. Both editions are available directly from boyjazz.bandcamp.com with vinyl distribution by Revolver/Midheaven. Get this piece of rock’n’roll history today because once they sell out they are gone forever!
