China’s Ministry Of Culture Sends Metal Bands to Germany’s Wacken Open Air
Beijing Midi School has selected three Chinese metal bands to perform at the world’s renowned metal music festival.
As part of the “Chinese Culture Year” project in Germany, Beijing Midi School was commissioned by China’s Ministry of Culture to recommend three outstanding Chinese metal bands to perform at the world’s renowned metal music festival Wacken Open Air in Germany on August 2-4. The three bands selected are Yaksa (夜叉), Suffocated (窒息), and The Falling (堕天).

Yaksa: Headbangers Stage, August 3rd 2012, 11:30
Suffocated: Party Stage, August 4th, 11:00
The Ministry of Culture will provide all the necessary financial assistance to these three bands. Painkiller Magazine, Midi Music Festival’s partner, will provide planning, communication, and technology support for this event. The three Chinese metal bands will perform in Germany alongside hundreds of world-class metal bands including Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Gamma Ray, In Flames, Machine Head, Ministry, Opeth, Overkill, Scorpions, Sepultura, Suicide Silence, Testament, U.D.O., Unearth.
According to the current schedule, Yaksa will share the stage with Henry Rollins and Black Dahila Murder, while Suffocated will open for famous bands such as Suicide Silence, Paradise Lost, and Sick of It All. The Falling will compete with other metal bands in the finals of Metal Battle.
This is not the first time that Midi School recommends Chinese bands to perform at foreign music festivals. Last year, Midi School recommended bands to Summer Sonic Music Festival in Japan. As for this time, the president of Midi School, Zhang Fan said: “we are honored that the Ministry of Culture gave us such an opportunity. Midi School has always been dedicated to the modern music education and the communication between Chinese and foreign music. Through Midi Music Festival, we’ve introduces foreign bands to Chinese music fans, and hope to expose more outstanding Chinese bands to show foreign music fans China’s rock music!”
