Documentary Chronciling Brit Rockers Status Quo Offered up to Buyers
German-British Group K5 is peddling the film band members Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi call the definitive look at their careers thus far. A no-holds-barred insight into the 50-year career of the legendary British rock band Status Quo, complete with sex, drugs and rock-n-roll, is to be touted to film buyers. The feature length documentary, Hello Quo, is directed by Alan G. Parker (Who Killed Nancy) and produced by Alexa Morris.Parker’s resume also boasts feature documentary Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyers’ Cut) which earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 2010.
K5, the German/Brit group, will tout the movie after snapping up the rights to the film that features interviews about Status Quo with music bigwigs including Brian May of Queen, Thin Lizzy, The Buzzcocks, Slade, Paul Weller of The Jam, The Sweet and artist and producer Jeff Lynne, originally of ELO.
The film is billed as providing “a hilarious, rollicking and sometimes poignant journey” of the band from its origins in 1962 to its current status as a band with total worldwide album sales topping 120 million.
Status Quo clocked up 106 performances on U.K. TV show Top of the Pops, spent 415 weeks in the U.K. singles chart, saw six albums go straight in at No.1 and put out 60 hit singles across their career to date.
The Quo’s Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi described the film as “truly” the definitive look at their career to date.
K5 co-founder Oliver Simon and company partner Carl Clifton described Quo as “part of the soundtrack to so many people’s lives.”
