Desmond Grundy: Tiles From The Amber Room

An important musical interlude played lightly today marking the official release of Tiles from the Amber Room, the second record of 10 original songs by DIY artist Desmond Grundy.

The album is available now in various formats from your favourite digital record shelves and the artist’s website. “Memorable guitar rock in a blanket of chorded shredidness” says early reviewer, himself, of this soon to be classic breakthrough album – four years after the release of Oddly Enough, a self-released gathering of his early work.

Imported from Scotland in 1965, Grundy shines like a well-aged single malt on Tiles from the Amber Room. Combining sinuous guitar licks and raw, meaningful vocals he smashes 70’s rock themes into the brutal intelligence of his technology-fueled creative expression. The song Something Good Comes Along has become one of the Top-Ten Songs of 2011 at the popular indierockcafe.com music blog. “…every time I hear the gnarly distorto guitar grinding up behind him, I get flummoxed into thinking that I’m listening to some kinda vintage Velvet Underground gradation” says Jeffrey Morgan, official biographer for the Stooges and Alice Cooper.

As a composer Mr. Grundy works at pushing the boundaries of his musical space, cultivating a ‘million’ hooks and phrases in an ongoing campaign to produce the elemental song for his time. As a young, trained musician he worked in bands steadily and later taught himself how to engineer and produce his own records and built his own studio. As owner of Mouthful of Records, Grundy sees a future in channelling the best of Rock music’s past as it re-shapes itself into Rock music’s future. With publishing contracts in the US, Canada and Europe (SOCAN), an increasing collection of press, world-wide distribution through CDBaby and no end in sight for his creative output, Grundy’s style of songwriting is once again poised to be the next new thing in music.
