CHRIS APPLETON & MARTIN MCNEE OF FURY UK ANNOUNCE NEW BAND, TOUR DATES & ALBUM PLAN
In the wake of Fury UK completing their tour commitments this week & with bassist Luke Appleton due to join American powerhouse metallers Iced Earth in June, Chris Appleton & Martin McNee are very happy to introduce their new band….. Absolva.
Absolva is in similar vein to Fury UK, playing classic British metal but with the addition of a second lead guitarist enabling the exploration of twin lead guitar sounds inspired by the likes of Iron Maiden & Thin Lizzy. The band line-up is completed by Tom Atkinson from Manchester metalheads Vice & Dan Bate from the Midlands-based Point Blank Fury.
The full line-up therefore is as follows….
Chris Appleton : lead guitar & lead vocals
Martin McNee : drums
Tom Atkinson : lead guitar & backing vocals
Dan Bate : bass guitar & backing vocals
Absolva will be making a debut live performance as special guests at this year’s SOS Festival, in Radcliffe, North Manchester on 22nd July, closely followed by 3 shows in August as special guests with Iced Earth in Ireland & Scotland. Fans can expect the band’s setlist to include a small selection of familiar Fury UK songs, plus plenty of new material being prepared towards an album which is scheduled for a release late in October on Rocksector Records. The album, entitled “Flames Of Justice”, will be promoted by a widespread UK & European tour October-December & a music video. The band has additionally accepted an invitation to headline next years’ Wizzfest in Belgium, March 2013.
Chris Appleton has this to say about today’s announcement.. “We’re happy & relieved to have settled the line-up so quickly. Tom Atkinson was a natural choice & already known to me as a talented lead guitarist. For the job of bassman we held auditions & Dan Bate proved to be the outstanding choice with the right skills but also a great attitude. Fury UK isn’t dead but goes on long-term hold & for me now, Absolva is the main focus. It rattled our world when we heard that Iced Earth wanted Luke but we knew how we wanted to handle things & Absolva is exactly that”
Early rehearsals have made it clear that Absolva has something very special & is exceptionally placed to become the 21st century band of choice for those fans that have passionately followed the British metal giants such as Maiden & Priest.
