World Famous Henley Business School Welcomes Universal’s Rob Wells – Global President Of Digital Business


What a busy time for Henley Business School. In June they welcome her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Key music industry executives have been invited including Rob Wells President Global Digital Business Universal Music. Henley also celebrate a new relationship with ISM, (www.ism.org) bringing together all segments of the music industry.

Henley Business School whose world famous reputation in business and leadership development is now considering applications for the MBA for the Music Industry. This innovative new Programme has received widespread endorsement from industry including Deborah Annetts Chief Executive of ISM, ex-Warner boss and current Live Nation EU Concerts president John Reid, as well as artists Robin Gibb, David Arnold and organisations such as PRS, IFPI, BASCA, MBI and UK Music Deborah Annetts, Chief Executive of the ISM will be joining the MBA Steering Committee in June and is to be guest speaker for the Music In Context day, at Henley on 24th September 2012. The Music In Context Day will be the first official course event exclusively for enrolled participants. Henley will also be hosting a series of public seminars to provide an insight into the MBA for the Music Industry programme, commencing with an exciting day on Music and Brand Partnerships on June 28th 2012.

“Education Is About Opening Your Mind. I believe the Henley MBA for the music industry will help us do just that,” said composer and performer Arnold.

“I fully support initiatives such as the Henley MBA for the Music Industry – education is not just an individual matter, it is for us all as an industry ” added Gibb.

The course will be delivered part time by flexible learning over two-three years to allow professionals to continue in work.

Henley said in a statement: “The business climate in the music industry has changed significantly in the global market place. New technologies and innovation have lead to strategic alliances with partners from other industries. The way in which the industry manages and monetises IP is important to the whole industry value-chain and will continue to be impacted by policy and regulation. As a result, industry professionals will benefit from an MBA by gaining the capabilities to develop more strategies to deal with these new challenges.

“The MBA will help participants gain new perspectives and a forward thinking approach, whilst strengthening their core management and leadership skills. The ultimate goal is to have a positive impact on the industry as a whole by putting it ahead of the curve, being more proactive and less reactive to change.”

The course’s steering committee includes:
Deborah Annetts – Chief Executive – ISM, whose ‘change management’ experience will be welcomed by all participants.
Ted Cohen – Managing partner of TAG strategic and known in the music industry as a leader who embraces and exploits new technologies.
Jonathan Shalit – Roar Global founder, vice president of The Variety Club Charity. Jonathan’s clients include household names such as X-Factor judge Tulisa, Myleene Klass, N-Dubz, Karren Brady, Kelly Brook and Lorraine Kelly as well as a wealth of hi profile TV news and current affairs presenters and actresses.
Nigel Elderton – Managing Director Peermusic UK, European President Peermusic, Chairman of the MCPS, Director of PRS for Music.
Simon Napier Bell – Known as the man behind Dusty Springfield’s hit ‘You don’t have to say you love me’ and Wham! He has a long musical history as both a song- writer and music manager associated with Marc Bolan, The Yardbirds and Jimmy Page.
Vick Bain – Chief Operating Officer of BASCA and Henley MBA alumnus.
Alexis Grower – Head of the Media Department at Magrath LLP
Phillip R Graham – Senior Vice President, Writer/ Publisher Relations at BMI.
Anthony Hall – Lawyer, majority owner and managing director of Pure Mint Recordings Limited.
Fred Cannon – BMI Senior Vice President for Government Relations and former Executive at EMI Records working with; The Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Sex Pistols, Elton John and Lionel Richie to name only a few.
Carl Leighton-Pope – Founder of The Performing Artists Network Agency with a management and touring career spanning over 30 years, Carl has worked with Simple Minds, Dire Straits, REO Speedwagon, Bryan Adams, Van Morrison and Michael Buble.
Alan Guinn – Managing Director of The Guinn Consultancy Group a business inspired following his attendance at one of Henley Business School’s Corporate Programs.

The MBA for the Music Industry is the brainchild of Professor John Board, Dean Of Henley and Helen Gammons MBA, Industry executive, author (The art of music publishing) & former lecturer and head of Business School at ACM. The course will be delivered over 2 – 3 years based around a core MBA programme with additional pathways providing industry contexualisation. Designed for busy participants who will attend Henley 3 days a quarter for intensive study. A flexible MBA programme to enable industry related professionals to continue with their busy work schedules.
