British Music Experience to salute Lynott

The life and work of Thin Lizzy’s iconic frontman Phil Lynott is to be celebrated in a new exhibition at the British Music Experience.

Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition will open at the music industry-backed space at the O2 in North Greenwich on April 5 and run until June 24. The exhibition previously ran in The Creative Space, Stephen Green Shopping Centre in Dublin last year.

Among the exhibits will be guitars, basses and other equipment used by Lynott, alongside tour jackets worn by him, flight cases, his personal diary, lyric books, school reports and his shares in Manchester United. It will also include materials from Irish music magazine Hot Press’s archives plus other photos, original paintings and artwork. Video tributes from names such as Bono, Imelda May and Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy will further form part of the exhibition.

Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said: “The exhibition garnered rave reviews in Dublin and we’re hoping that the reaction in London will be the same. We set out to create something beautiful and brilliant that would reflect the unique contribution of Philip Lynott to the world of rock ‘n’ roll.

“There is an emotional quality to it which is profound. As such it is, I think, an exhibition that will appeal to everyone who loves music, or who has an interest in what makes a great artist and a great songwriter – which Philip Lynott was. Being steeped in music history, the British Music Experience is a perfect place for the exhibition.”
