Tony Bongiovi Is The Newest Fame Wizard Talent Advisor
The list of music-industry legends lending their talents to the artist development company Fame Wizard just grew by one with the addition of Tony Bongiovi.
Since last year, Fame Wizard has been offering aspiring musicians an unprecedented level of access to the mechanics of making it big. It has amassed a Who’s Who of experience to its advisory board. Now Bongiovi — the man who manned the console for Jimi Hendrix, helped mold the sound of the Talking Heads and the Ramones, and built the studio where “Born in the USA” and “Like a Virgin” were recorded – is ready to help find the next generation of musicians.
“Tony’s kind of like the ultimate manager,” says Rinaldo S. Brutoco, the co-founder and chairman of Fame Wizard. “He can literally find a talent, bring it into his studio, mold it and launch it into a successful music career. That’s very complimentary to what we do at Fame Wizard. We prepare artists to build a following and learn music business skills so they’ll be ready for industry professionals like Bongiovi and others. We love being Tony’s farm club.”
Brutoco began Fame Wizard with the hope of supplying the post-Napster generation of musicians with the tools and resources that many record labels have long since abandoned. A monthly or yearly membership fee offers nuts-and-bolts coaching and formal training on everything from copyrights to planning tours to licensing to getting radio airplay, to learning how to be discovered. Bongiovi joins a roster that includes the Grammy-winning songwriter David Paich (“Hold the Line,” “Rosanna”), the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame co-founders Norman Ratner and David Braun, and label executives Elliot Goldman (Arista) and Tom Silverman (Tommy Boy).
“We come to work every day with the question, ‘How can we help an emerging artist today?'” Brutoco says. “The world of today is for do-it-yourself artists. We’re the opportunity for them to demonstrate that they’re ready to take things to the next level. And we will help them get there.”
Bongiovi, who helped convert an abandoned Con Ed power plant into the legendary Power Station recording studio (and who shaped, developed and single-handedly launched the career of his second cousin John Bongiovi a/k/a Jon Bon Jovi), says he relishes the chance to pass his expertise along. “There is nothing more satisfying than hearing that first chord or bass line from a young, talented musician,” he says. “And there’s nothing sadder than seeing someone without the tools to capitalize on that talent.
