Atlantic UK partners with Kings Of Leon producer
Atlantic Records UK has signed a partnership with the label of Kings Of Leon and Ryan Adams producer Ethan Johns.
The deal will see Johns discover and nuture artists signed to Atlantic and then release via his imprint, Three Crows Music, according to Billboard.
Atlantic UK boss Max Lousada said that he expected the first new signing to Three Crows/Atlantic U.K. to be announced in the next three to five months.
Deals with artists on Three Crows signed before the new partnership – which include Julianna Raye, Sarabeth Tucek and Dave Palmer – are not covered by the terms of the deal.
UK-based Johns previously produced Paolo Nutini’s Sunny Side Up – a hit for Atlantic UK.
“I was impressed by the way Atlantic Records gave Paolo the time, space and support to find his voice as an artist and make an un-compromised record,” said Johns.
“To then take that record and back it with such sustained commitment kind of blew me away. Max is an instinctive, passionate record guy with an amazing level of commitment. He’ll go down as one of the greats and I’m honoured Three Crows has this opportunity to work with him and the other guys at Atlantic.”
Max Lousada said: “Ethan’s extraordinary vision and versatility has benefited many of the most distinctive artists of the last fifteen years. Whatever the musical style, his work always has the same characteristic quality, that blends credibility and popularity. It is this spirit of musical adventure and excellence that will be at the heart of Three Crows Music, and makes Ethan a perfect fit with Atlantic. I’m looking forward to working with him as we discover the next generation of original, world-class voices.”
