New Leonard Cohen album released in January
Leonard Cohen’s career revival continues apace with news of his first new album in eight years, set for release on January 30.
The singer, who returned to touring in 2008 after 15 years away, has recorded a new 10-track album for Columbia called Old Ideas.
The album’s songs address themes such as love, sexuality, loss and death according to Columbia, which said it is “arguably the most overtly spiritual” of Cohen’s albums.
One song, Show Me The Place, is streaming from leonardcohen.com, where fans can pre-also order the album, earning an instant download of the new track.
The album was produced with Patrick Leonard, Anjani Thomas, Ed Sanders and Dino Soldo and will feature cover design by Cohen himself.
This will be Cohen’s 12th studio album. The last, Dear Heather, was released by Columbia in 2004.
