SINGER CHRYSTA BELL AND FILMMAKER DAVID LYNCH RELEASE COLLABORATIVE DEBUT ALBUM THIS TRAIN
Acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch has combined forces with vocalist Chrysta Bell for This Train, a remarkable 11-song album released by La Rose Noire records. Lynch is the Palme d’Or winning, four-time Academy Award nominated creator of such films as The Elephant Man, Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive. Produced by Lynch, This Train taps into the iconic soundtracks of his television and film productions while finding new ground with Bell’s haunting, ethereal voice. Lynch has discovered in his long-time collaboration with Bell a lush vocal authenticity that matches his musical vision with sheer precision. “She was born to sing and be on stage,” Lynch says of his musical partner.
“This Train could be described as the musical equivalent of a David Lynch film,” says Bell, adding, “David wrote the music and navigated nearly every aspect of this album. I trusted his direction and intuition implicitly. You cannot help but think “this is so Lynch” while listening to this record.”
Chrysta Bell began singing professionally when she was eleven, lending her voice to commercial jingles. She has travelled the world as a working musician, having sung for an audience of 40,000 at the Montreal Jazz Festival and recently performing at the Shanghai World Expo’s closing ceremonies. Bell met Lynch during her time as a singer for RCA Victor gypsy swing act 8 ½ Souvenirs.
This Train is available as a download, on CD and also as a limited edition double-vinyl LP. The album features original photography and artwork by Lynch.
