The band is fronted by Shawn Michael Perry who shares the stage with a group of the hottest musicians. They offer an exciting, energizing show that delivers tight and rigorous compositions with impeccable musicianship.
Shawn Michael Perry has taken the multi -hyphenate to new heights. This singer, songwriter, actor, educator, activist was born into indigenous heritage in Southern California. The strength of his music and beauty of his words was enhanced by producer John Avila the talented bassist/producer of Oingo Boingo. Final polishing was added by the skillful mastering of techniques of Ron Mc Master (Capitol Records). Shawn has opened for and shared the bill with REDBONE…BADLANDS… BILL MILLER…MARY YOUNGBLOOD…KEITH SECOLA…JEFF HEALEY…THEE RHYTHM KINGS, just to name a few.

“CHICAGO” CHUCK GULLENSlanded in Southern California after spending his high school years in Las Vegas, and his college years in Kansas and Wyoming. While attending The University of Wyoming, he helped found one of the hardest working Blues bands in the country, BLINDDOG SMOKIN’. BLINDDOG spent the better part of twenty years playing in excess of 250 dates a year all over the world. In his travels, Chuck has shared the stage with such diverse artists as Wynton Marsalis, Jonny Lang, B.B. King, Bobby Rush, Marshal Tucker, and many more. As a seasoned and accomplished drummer and percussionist, Chuck lays a deep pocketed foundation and brings a diverse amalgamation of styles to ONLY THE BRAVE.
DIG LEWIS the remarkable musician, composer, and conductor has toured extensively with major performing artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Benson, John Mellencamp, Boz Skaggs. Always in demand, Dig has also played bass for Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and more. When he’s not stroking the bass he composes music for film and television. As a child prodigy, Dig became an accomplished violin, viola and cello musician at the age of 13 in Detroit, Michigan, where he played on some of the earliest of Motown’s famous R&B sound tracks. Lewis followed these remarkable accomplishments by serving as a junior concert master for the Detroit Junior Symphony orchestra for three years, while concentrating his attention toward composing and conducting a diverse variety of musical scores. During this time, he conducted orchestrations and concerts for notables such as Frank Sinatra and the Pointer Sisters.
He is an alumnus of the University of Arizona and also attended Wayne State University and the University of Detroit. As his career evolved, Lewis continued to develop his skills as a musician gaining respect among the elite members of the R&B community, and was named among the top 10 bass players in the nation by both Downbeat and Bass Player magazines. He worked on numerous recording sessions as a studio musician and toured extensively with major performing artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Jack McDuff and John Mellencamp. As time progressed, Lewis became seriously interested in pursuing his true love in music which is composing. Over the years he has used his unique and formidable composing skills, both electronically and “live” to make film scores come to life. Dig’s company Sync Masters worked on scores for The March of The Penguins and Apocalypto, just to name a few. Shawn Michael Perry’s company Only The Brave Entertainment and All That Culture Music Of The America’s is honored to work with Dig. His talents include teaching students the art of musical scoring on television and films.
ROBERT “CHALO” ORTIZ Chalo named after his famous grandfather who shared the stage with the legendary Trace (Three) Ponchos. Robert Sr.Ortiz. states that Chalo picked up the guitar at an early age of eight and has not put the guitar down since. Coming from a family of musicians music was ingrained in his blood. Chalo practiced every day to the likes of Santana, EL Chicano and others. It certainly has paid off. His first band The Night Creatures”, was a blues band. He played the blues like he owns the stage. It comes deep within his soul. Eventually he moved onto Thee Rhythm Kings”. Chalo has shared the stage with such greats such as Los Lobos, EL Chicano and many others. Quite diverse in his ability to play Chalo has moved onto other bands since such as Blind Dog Smokin along with Shawn Michael Perry & Only The Brave.
