SCARLET HAZE – Confessions Of One Bad Bitch

5 min read

1. Hello guys, please inroduce the band to the rest of the world..

Scarlet Haze is Kat Perkins (vocals), Eric Warner (guitar), Steve McClurg (bass) and Duff (drums).  We are dangerous.  We are sexy. and we love to bring the rock to the rock show!

2. The band’s debut single “Reach Down” features members from Guns N’ Roses and Nine Inch Nails. How did you get in contact with these guys?

Those incredible connections came solely from my record label that I signed with this year.  They have lots of wonderful and interesting relationships with many great artists that they were able to bring to the table for me.  Ron Thal from Guns N’ Roses is phenomenal.  He’s such a great person, and his talent is way beyond something I’ve ever seen or worked with before!  I think he might be an alien because no human can do what he does!

3. What about a full album? When are we going to have a full release from the band?

Yes, we are currently in the process of finishing the full record and we hope to release it soon in the Spring of 2011.  It will be titled “One Bad Bitch”.

4. Kat Perkins is a stage persona that looks beautiful but dangerous as well…How does the charismatic vocalist contributes to the image of the band?

I like to bring a whole range of emotions with my image in front of this band.  I love to bring the element of sex and danger to the image and I also, love to bring the image of sweet and humble.  We ultimately do what we do for the fans.  I like to stay true to myself fronting this band all-the-while making the fans feel something real and hopefully intriguing them.

5. What is the reaction of the fans for your new songs? Did you test you new material in front of the audience?

We literally just starting playing this material for a few of our fans!  The reaction has been 100% positive!  They are craving the new sound that we’ve put together on this record.  We are trying to really round out our presentation with something for everyone on the album.

6. The band is managed by John Moyer, the bassist of Disturbed. How helpful has been the effort of John till now?

Moyer has brought so much to this camp since we signed on with him.  His knowledge of touring along with his artistic ability have be huge assets to our songs and where we can go play for fans!  He is one talented, smart man that has also been able to keep me ‘sane’ and ‘level’ as we make this push in the music industry!  How many artists get to say that they are managed by one of the biggest names in rock music!  I have been a huge fan of Disturbed over the years.  There’s still so much to learn for me, and Moyer is able to hand over a ton of experience and advice on a daily basis.

7. You have toured extensively with brand names of rock n roll music, so let us know about life on the road.

I’ve gotten to play some amazing shows over the past few years.  The one that stands out the most is the Bon Jovi show.  We got to play for a sold out crowd at the Target Center Arena in Minneapolis, MN.  That seats about 20,000 people.  That experience was life changing! One of the most memorable funny band moment so far: We were in very rural South Dakota and we made a pit stop at a gas station.  Everyone but the driver was fast asleep in the seats, but I woke up to quickly use the restroom. When I came out, to my surprise, the van was gone!  The band had left me behind!  The sound man, who was driving, didn’t realize I had went inside.  My cell phone, my money, my everything was in that van.  I didn’t know anyone’s phone number since we live in the cell phone age.  It was a mess!  Finally, I remembered a family member’s phone number and she tracked down my drummer’s phone number with her resources.  Finally the band was eventually notified that they had left me.  They turned around and came back to get me after getting about 40 miles down the road.  We were almost late for our show!  All in all, life on the road for us is fun and it just keeps getting more interesting!

8. Do you have any stories that you want to share with us while supporting Bon Jovi, Bret Michaels or the other stars?

Well like I said, getting to play for 20,000 people in an arena was something I will never forget for as long as I live.  I will forever see my adorable mother eleven rows back with her rock fist in the air.   Opening up for Bret Michaels in Kansas City, MO was very memorable.  We had a sold out venue that had no clue there was an opening act for Bret, so they were in for a surprise when we came out at 8 PM and not Bret.  Luckily they seemed very impressed and they loved us!!  Every big show is amazing and I hope to keep getting these amazing opportunities to play for the fans, because in the end, it’s all about the fans.

9. How are you going to promote your new release?

We plan to tour hard in 2011 to support not only the single, but the whole album as well.  We plan on hitting the US first then we have plans to take it across the pond to promote and play shows!  We are also doing a whole lot of radio promotion to get the single played on the airwaves and get our name out there.

10. Do you feel more safe in an indie or a major label ?

I feel safe with an indie label backed by a major label, because that is exactly what I have and I don’t know any differently.  The team that we have put together over this past year has been amazing and everyone is working their tail off to back this project.  The music business is not easy and there are no ‘rules’ per say in either an indie label or a major label.  We all make it up as we go and hope that our talent, sound, and look makes an impact with our fans!

11. Send a big SHOUT and message to all your fans out there..

We love all of our fans, young and old!  Keep supporting music!!  We can’t do what we do without fans that love the entire experience!!  Please join us on Facebook, Twitter, and visit www.scarlethaze.com  !
