MYSELF…The Zombie Walker !!!

1. Say hallo to the world by introducing “yourself”to the world…

Greeting earthlings I am the ghost of Rock & Roll past..I come from a galaxy far far away called Orion (the solar system`s brightest star). I was sent here to Planet Earth to reclaim the King Of Rock & Roll Throne . I go by the name `MYSELF`and my mission is to take on where Hendrix,Bob Marley,Sun Ra and Miles Davis left off… giving you the raw dark matter experience that only exist in the musical cosmos!! 1/11/11 is the day the world will get a chance to bare witness to the new classic rock sound called `Punk Floyd`
 
2. Why MYSELF ? What’s the reasons behind your name?

A question often asked & never fully understood. The name chose me actually. I was conscious of how artist try to be someone they`re not,so I wanted to put the focus back on the music,inner self consciousness and leave the proganda and mass marketing machines to the powers that be….so as a result of divine manifestation `MYSELF` the artist was born and since then has been creatively re-born. My name,image/likeness and unique sound has a vintage & classic familiarity to it that everyday people and music lovers worldwide can relate  to and appeciate.
 
3. Your  new album  have known guests like Fishbone and Suicidal Tendecies members, etc. So how did this happen?

 My new album Punk Floyd is a result of diligence,patience,rebellion and spontaneous combustion that came about via the power of GOD… I started writing the album in NYC and moved to Brazil and started to channel my creative prowess and spirituality to the point where everything seemed to fall right into place (no coincidences). I was fortunate enough in my career to have been able to work with many different grammy/platinum artists,so by the time I met Fishbone rocky george of Suicidal Tendencies and my new manager Bruce Replogle (of John & Yoko Ono fame)…lets just say that my angels (who protect me) are working in overtime. Hard work pays off and as a proof of that this is one of the reasons people like Yoko Ono,Madonna,Lady Gaga,Puffy,and Lenny Kravitz all have said “I Love MYSELF ” ..true artist know when someone is authenthic and that someone just so happens to be named `MYSELF` (lol lol)
 
4. Are you the leader of a band or is this a project ?

` MYSELF` is not just an artist,but I am a multi media brand (CEO of Couture Music Wear) the best dressed record label in the universe!, I am a producer,have my own production called (INGENIUS BASTARDS), I am an actor…lets just say I am a 21st century renassasnace dred lock mohawk rocker. I executive produced this project,came up with the concept and I have the best musicians in the world as my backing iconic supergroup *The Me Me Me All-Stars* which we plan to tour worldwide 2011. My band consist of founding members of Fishbone,Rocky George of Suicidal Tendencies,Ivan Neville (The Rolling Stones),Greg Bell,Leon Mobley of Ben Harper and Don Mckenzie of Living Colour…now if that isn`t a kick ass band I don`t know who is??? (lol lol)

5. Are you signed to any major label right now ?

I own all my masters,copyrights,music,videos,etc.. Universal Music Group will be distributing my music worldwide but I have the freedom to license my project in any foreign territory,sign with any label and or music publisher,etc. That`s the great thing about the industry nowadays….artists like  `MYSELF` (no pun indended) no longer have to be slaves to bullsh*t A&R`s and companies who don`t care about their artist and are only out to make a profitable killing.
 
6. Pls let us know about your new album Punk Floyd…We want all the details

Punk Floyd showcases an artist on the rise of super-stardom and one who is ready to take his place among rock royalty. The album is jam packed with razor-sharp song craft and a presence almost too large for any stage. MYSELF powers through the album’s (11) tracks with revolutionary zeal. The sheer raw energy is captured in full effect by a legendary superstar band that features rock icons Fishbone, Don Letts of (Big Audio Dynamite), Ivan Neville, Leon Mobley of Ben Harper, Rocky George of (Suicidal Tendencies) and Greg Bell.

Multi-Platinum Grammy winning mix engineers Sylvia Massy (Tool, Rick Rubin, System of A Down) and Rich Veltrop (Rage Against The Machine) put their magical touches on the project. The album was mastered by seasoned veteran and Grammy winner Erick Labson (Black Eyed Peas, Iggy Pop, Lady Gaga) at Universal Music Mastering Studios in Hollywood, Ca. Punk Floyd was produced by John `Norwood` Fisher (Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
 
7. There’s a variety of music styles in your album..from reggae to Punk, etc. How can you combine all these
elements in your album?

 In the immortal words of Bob Marley I am a natural mystic…music runs in my veins and oozes out my blood. I am from New Orleans (birthplace of jazz,blues and funk) so music to me is like cooking up a delicious recipe…you need reggae/dub for the flavor,you need rock for the base foundation of your stew…then throw in some classic punk to get you drunk!!! It`s that simple. Music is the first true universal language that has potent powers to elevate people`s spirit and mindstate,so when I am concocting a song inspiration comes in all shapes,colors and sizes. My music is a reflection of me,so I enjoy doing the un-expected mixing funk,punk,new wave and dub into a blender and enjoying the natural flavor that comes out of it. It taste so good..hmm yummy you should try it.. thats why we have groups like the clash,bad brains,beatles,rolling stones,zeppelin because they pushed the envelope and would not allow themselves to get boxed in. 
 
 
8. What’s the goals of your album in terms of lyrics and music ? How do you think that your release is
going to contribute in fan’s way of thinking?

 Always my main goal is to use music as a means of positive upliftment mentally and spiritually,create change and awareness,combat racism and break down barriers and stereotypes 
 
9. Your latest single  “Do The Zombie Walk” has a bluesy/rock feeling but the cover artwork pays tribute
to the classical horror movie. So are you a fan of horror movies or are there other meanings behind
the artwork and the lyrics ?

For those who may not know a zombie walk is actually a protest march so the inspirattion behind the song was to create a new dancefloor movement where people would be excited to let loose,dance and have a real good time. Marc Pellerin out of france did the artwork for the single and album cover and one of our main objectives was to marry music and art like from yesteryear when rock album cover art like black sabbath,cream,the stones left a lasting impression. I was extremely adamant about having the music set the tempo and to have the artwork peak’s people’s curiosity and get them to want to explore this new sound,style and movement,so when you see the artwork for the singles and album you walk away with the impression of something mysterious,unexplainable,psychedlic,raw/untapped and beautiful. These are chose words that best decribes the pulse of my album ‘Punk Floyd’, it’s clever,bright,innovative but has a deep sincerity for the past.. everyone who sees the artwork falls in love with it. It provokes thought and dances along the borders of controversy without missing or skipping a bit. By the time you hear my lyrics,see the video,check out my image and catch the  live concert….you have had a chance to fully immerse yourself into the world of MYSELF!!!
 
10. There s also an official promo video for your “Do The Zombie Walk ” single. Where did you film the song
and let us know about the whole process..

 Do The Zombie Walk (promo video and full length videos were shot on HD as a min movie would be. Harken back to the days of Thriller I wanted to showcase how music and cinema can be utilized to it’s fullest potential. The video was shot at an un-disclosed post japan/USA  war military base outside of Tokyo…when you see it the feeling of being the last man on earth is the first thing comes to mind.
