Avenged Sevenfold Gunning For a Possible No. 1 Debut

Next week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, rock band Avenged Sevenfold is gunning for a possible No. 1 debut with its new “Nightmare” set. Initial sales projections from industry prognosticators suggest that the album could sell in the range of 160,000 to 180,000 by week’s end on Sunday, Aug. 8.

Of course, as we saw last week, sometimes projections don’t always pan out. It ain’t over until the fat lady sings next Wednesday morning when the new chart is unveiled, but if Avenged makes it to No. 1 it will mark their first chart-topper. The band’s last set, a 2007 self-titled effort, debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 94,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.
