STEEVI JAIMZ…Young And Still Crazy !

Interview with Steevi

1. Hello Steevi, would you like to talk us about your ex- Tigertailz days?

Big hair, sold thousands of records, and worked hard as fukk to achieve it all. It was a gr8 time back then!!

2. Can you tell us about the Tigertailz in the first album, what about the recordings and your relationship with Music For Nations?

The 1st record…Well, it was actually recorded twice. Once, originally in Wales. And again a year or so later with MFN in London. To be honest the original version was way better, we never recreated it on the second version of Y&Crazy for some reason.

To be honest my relationship with MFN was shit, the guy who ran the company was a complete cunt to me.

3. Is it true that you really hate the cover of your first album?

Hahahahahahahhahahahhaha. Where did that quote come from? I’ve never even thought about the cover, let alone hated it. So i can’t answer that i’m afraid. I’m not even sure where that quote woulda’ come from. Certainly not me!

4. How was the scene at London those days?

London was buzzin’ around 86′, 87′. It was a gr8 place to be. Tons of bands playin’ all the time, clubs galore. The whole scene was alive and flourishin’. It was definitely the place to be back then.

5. What about your departure from the band? What really happened?

Jeez. This has been cross examined to death i think. OK. Basically, we never got along that well, but towards the end it became impossible. I was outta control, drinkin’ myself to death. So, the best thing for everyone was the split. And that’s what happened. They asked me to leave and i did. That’s it in a nutshell.

6. What’s your opinion about the singer that replaced you?

I don’t have one!

7. Did you have any issues about the use of the name Tigertailz with your ex – band?

I don’t use the name Tigertailz. The court case went their way and i moved on. Ironic now tho, both myself and Tigertailz only have one original member in the line-up. Go figure!

8. Are you in thou ch with any of them right now?

No.

9. How did you feel about the death of Pepsi Taste ? Did you go at the funeral?

Yeah, it was a tragic loss for someone still so young. No. I wasn’t invited to the funeral unfortunately!

10. What did you do after your departure from Tigertailz, did you work at any daily job to pay for rent & food?

After TTz i formed my band St Jaimz. Released the Kick That Habit EP and went straight back out on the road.

11. In 1998 you released your debut album, are you satisfied from this release?

Damned if i do… Well, it’s really a collections of demo’s and unreleased trax. But it did finish up soundin’ really good. So yeah, sure i was satisfied with it.

12. Why did we lost you for almost a decade, what did you do from 1998 to 2008?

I was playin’ live between those dates. In fact we did the LA Guns first reunion support dates in the UK around 2002. We toured under the TTz name in 2003 in the UK and Europe also. And for the last 2 years I’ve been back n’ forth, when finances permitted, recordin’ my new record.

13. Now you have a new management, how did you get in touch with these people? Are you satisfied from
your cooperation till now?

Yeah. They also manage Norwegian glamsters Wig Wam. I was put in touch with Simon thru my friend Kelv Hellrazer. We’re happy with how things are workin’ out at the moment, so all is good.

14. Would you to introduce us the current line up of Steevi Jaimz band?

Right now, i’m in the process of puttin’ a new tourin’ band 2gether. The record was written and recorded in Sweden with Swedish songwriters/musicians/producers Chris Laney and Anders Ringman, apart from one Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper, Slash’s Snakepit etc…) co write. I just need people to recreate the sound. Nobody in my band past or present actually played on it, or had anythin’ to do with the new record anyway. I am however workin’ right now with a fukkin’ gr8 guitar here in London named Mick Priestly. And, hopefully, we’ll be out on the road real soon!!

15. What about your new album? We want all the info we can get…

The new record is finished, mixed, mastered and ready to go. It sounds fukkin’ monster i tell ya. As i said, it was written and recorded in Sweden, by myself, Chris Laney and Anders Ringman. Who also did a lot of work on the 1st Crash Diet record amongst many others!
I’m really proud of what we achieved with this, it’s by far and away the best material i’ve ever been involved in. Every tune is a winner from 1st to last. It’s gonna be titled MY PRIVATE HELL…And it should, all goin’ to plan, be out in late September this year! It’ll surprise a lot of people, and i can’t wait for everyone to hear it. We’ve had some demos of tunes up on our myspace page for a while now. They’ve gone down a storm. All i can say is as soon as it’s available go grab a copy, you won’t be disappointed!!

16. Are you going to tour for this release?

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!

17. How’s life on the road these days that 80s crazy party is over?

Hahahahahahahahhahahaha. Yeah, it was fukkin’ crazy back then. But whenever we’ve played in Europe recently it’s been gr8. U gotta move with the times, and perhaps take a breath these days.

18. Are still enough groupies out there?

HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA, don’t ask me I’m married.

19. You have faced problem with alcohol, any plans to quit( the alcohol of course and not the music)?

My demon for most of my life, hmmmm. Well, in the past I’ve quit without much success. But with the help of my wife i’ve almost stopped drinkin completely. Which for me is somethin’ special. It’s no longer my answer to problems, although, it’s always lurkin’ in my head. A fukkin’ difficult addiction to beat i tell ya, but right now i’m doin’ really well with it thanx.

20. Is there any video available from your Tailz days or your solo career? Any chance for a DVD?

Yeah, there’s lots and lots of footage out there. Both of me in TTz and plenty of solo stuff. And yeah, we’re talkin’ bout maybe puttin it all out sometime on DVD. So watch this space!
