Interview with Lips

1. Hello Lips, would you like to inform us about your
new  album ?

The new album is the best sounding Anvil cd so far, as for the songs, they are also good, but like most Anvil cd’s you will find your favourites.

2. I like the cover of the album, does it have any relationship with the Greek mythology?

The cover idea was my way of showing great strength with longevity, the Greek mythology wasn’t my full intension at first but about a couple of weeks after we got the Album cover done we found out we were going to play in Athens. At that moment I realized magic had taken place!!!!! We had chosen a Greek God for our cover and now we could get band pictures for the inner sleeve with the Parthenon in the background….completing a totally cohesive package.

3. I think that this album is more melodic than previous works of the group

The new cd definately has more melody, this is a result of being bored of yelling my lyrics. In order to create melodic sounding music you must slow down a bit. Beleive me when I say we haven’t lost our ability to play fast we just want to hear great singing and bass playing. When you play at high super speed you can’t hear bass and the singing is no longer singing it’s yelling.

4. So what is still going strong these days?

Rock n Roll !

5. There’s also an instrumental track, why did you decide to put this instead of a typical song?

We did an instumental with a drum solo for 3 reasons..- 1 ROBB REINER is God and should be heard – 2 it hasn’t been done well for decades – 3 we needed a song for a drum solo live

6. Is there any feedback from the audience about the album till now ?

Most of the reveiws I’ve read are that it’s another great Anvil cd. I’m not too sure what the fans think but I’m sure they will probably like more than they have for a while.

7. Are you going to tour for the album?

There is nothing that we love more than touring , but we have no plans at the moment.

8. How different is the situation in tour now and 10 years ago?

To be really honest I would say it has never changed and more than likely never will. We rarely tour, and it’s been like that for years, mostly because of the death metal scene, most promoters hire death metal bands , so we get left out.

9. Do you miss the old days?

NO !

10. Which are the future plans of the band?

To write another bunch of songs and get them recorded asap.

I had a wonderful time on our visit to Greece, but I wish I knew WHO STOLE MY VIBRATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
