The Killdares To Perform 120 Performances In 24 Days At The State Fair Of Texas

Celebrating 12 years of performing at the State Fair of Texas, Celtic rock band The Killdares are the pinnacle of entertainment at this year’s legendary festival. With over 3 million attendees to perform in front of at Dallas’ Fair Park, The Killdares will give an impressive 120 LIVE performances over the course of 24 days.

“We are thrilled and honored to be such a big part of the entertainment every year at the State Fair of Texas,” states Tim Smith, lead vocalist and drummer for The Killdares. “This year we have to pace ourselves though. 120 shows in 24 days is a lot of rock-n-roll!”

Almost as famous as the corny dog at the State Fair of Texas, the Celtic rock show from the Killdares has become an institution. Families from all over Texas and neighboring states attend the lavish event to take in The Killdare’s commanding pop-rock hooks, which are blended with traditional Celtic rock flair, through the clever infusion of fiddles and bagpipes. The collaboration of genres produces a unique and feel-good rock-n-roll sound that all ages enjoy.

“The Killdares are a brilliant group of musicians that shine as bright, if not brighter than the stars in Texas,” states Jennifer Lyneis, president of UE3 Promotions. “120 performances in 24 days is more than most bands do in a full year. The Killdares have an amazingly loyal fan base and tons of promotional brand support, and that’s because they rock!”

The Killdares band members include: Tim Smith on lead vocals and drums; six-time national champion fiddler Roberta Rast on fiddle, backing vocals, and ukulele; world-class bagpiper Matt Willis on Highland Bagpipes, Scottish smallpipes, Uilleann pipes, electronic pipes, backing vocals, flute, whistles, and samples; and Brek Lancaster on lead guitar and backing vocals.

The Killdares will be performing many of their songs from “Up Against the Lights,” their new DVD/2-CD package, which was released worldwide this past July.

Performance times are scheduled for: 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 6:00 PM CST. Performances are located on the Backdoor Stage near Gate G of the Cotton Bowl.

*NOTE: Special performance times on Saturday, October 8 are 10:00AM, halftime, post-game and 4:00 PM. These times are set to coincide with the famous Texas/OU football game which happens right in the Cotton Bowl.
