Mongrel Confirms New Bassist, Micah Maltais
Mongrel, the female fronted punk-rock-metal band known as “the hardest working band in Boston” (Metal Edge), has confirmed that Micah Maltais (ex-Tell It To The Dead) as their new full-time bassist. Micah replaces long term Mongrel bassist “Rev” who left the band on good terms back in February after five years in the band. Micah rounds out the lineup with singer Jessica Sierra, drummer Dave Kazukiewicz, and guitarist/founder Adam Savage.
“We’ve known Micah for at least a couple of years now through shows with his band Tell It To The Dead, and he’d been a big fan of ours for quite a while so when he threw his name in the hat for the job we obviously were excited to give it a shot and it worked out really well. He’s done a few shows with us already as part of his trial period and he’s got a great work ethic, gets along well with everyone in the band and the fans have been responsive to him so we’re very happy to welcome him on board as a member of the band.”
Mongrel will be performing with new bassist Micah at Whiskey Alley in Fitchburg MA on August 6, Rhode Island Pagan Pride Day on August 20th, and on October 16th in Danvers MA, Mongrel will once again take the stage supporting horror-punk legends, the Misfits.
Mongrel’s latest release, the 5 song EP Declamation, which included a cover of the Misfits classic “Dig Up Her Bones” (youtube link below), came out in May 2011 as the follow up to the September 2010 EP The New Breed of Old School. Both EP’s can be found on itunes, amazon, interpunk.com, mongrel.bandcamp.com, and on the band’s website at www.MongrelBand.com. Mongrel is currently exploring options for the release of their upcoming full length album Reclamation, tentatively set for a Fall 2011 release. Fans can find the song “Stillborn Savior” from the upcoming album on a free download compilation at the Society Syndicate website for the month of July, and the song “Zombies of War” will be featured on the upcoming Femme Metal Records compilation Melody and Malice, alongside bands such as Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Kittie, In This Moment, and The Agonist.
