BAI BANG – The Big Bang Rockers
Interview with Diddi Kastenholt
1. The band has been active since the 1980s, how do you manage to maintain the status of the band with all these changes in the music industry?
We keep on rocking. We play live a lot. And release albums. But it’s always hard. All bands had a down period during the grunge time. But we manage to do it.
2. Sweden is a country that has played a major role in the European melodic rock. How do you explain that?
I think Sweden is a positive country and perhaps that sounds why positive music comes out from the Swedish bands.
3. What are you up to now? Any new release to promote or are you playing songs from your whole career at the shows?
We are currently doing a new album. Release in 2016. We will play songs from the 3 latest albums. From Are you ready, Living my Dream and All around the world.
4. Your website includes limited information about the band’s activity from 2013 till now. Can you help us by proving information about what happened from the album All Around The World (2013) till now?
We have had some changes in the band in the past. But it’s like a marriage . Sometimes you divorce. Now we got a new great Guitar player, Manuel Seoane Paris from Spain.
5. Do you think that the Swedish Sleaze Rock scene is still on the peak?
Oh yes. The Swedish rock scene is hot. And will always find its audience.
6. How do the band deals with the upcoming music trends?
Bai Bang have never been a band that looks at trends. We play our glamhardrock. As always. And we do it good.
7. What the fans should expect from your show in Athens, Greece at Rock You To Hell festival?
The fans will see and listen to some really catchy songs with great riffs. It’s going to rock.
8. What are your expectations of the Greek fans?
Our Greek fans are very loyal. We get a lot of support from them. We love them. We hope to find new fans and friends at the festival.
9. How do you interpret the name of the band?
Bai Bang is actually a small town in Vietnam. A paper mill factory. Hehe Vinyl is great.
10. Do you support the rise of the vinyl as a medium for music recording?
Hopefully our label will release the next album in vinyl too. It’s great to have a big cover from the album and look at all pics and info in a big size. We are looking forward to come and play. Let’s rock!
