Grateful Dead tickets on sale for $1 million on StubHub

It’s no surprise how quickly the Grateful Dead’s 50 anniversary concert sold out. But what might have you doing a double take is the price they are selling for online. On StubHub.com, a three-day pass is selling for more than million dollars. It’s $1.160,004.09. The next price almost seems reasonable at $116,005.25.
The concert features original members Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kruetzmann, and will take place July 3 to 5 at Soldier Field.
That’s the same site of the Dead’s last show on July 9, 1995. Jerry Garcia died a couple month later on Aug. 9.
The shows are being billed as “Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 years of the Grateful Dead.” The influential psychedelic band from San Francisco was never much of a force on the album sales charts, but it built a loyal following based on lengthy and varied live shows.
Fans were not dissuaded from making and trading bootleg tapes of shows — they were encouraged, in fact — and Deadheads were known to travel from show to show while the band was on tour.
