Leonard Cohen Releasing New Album ‘Popular Problems’
Two days after celebrating his 80th birthday, the peerless Leonard Cohen will release Popular Problems, his 13th studio album in a recording career that reaches back to 1967’s landmark Songs of Leonard Cohen. Official confirmation of the new album comes a week after a fan convention in Dublin broke the news. Featuring nine new songs, Popular Problems finds Cohen working with Patrick Leonard, the songwriter/producer best known for working with Madonna on five albums, including Like a Prayer. The Leonards previously worked together on Cohen’s 2012 album Old Ideas and in a recent interview with Billboard, Leonard said the new material was coming together “very quickly.”
Popular Problems drops Sept. 23. Pre-orders (which are available now) come with a free download of the new song “Almost Like The Blues.” The record’s full track list is below.
