Duran Duran suing fan club for £23,500

The ’80s group have filed a lawsuit against Chicago-based company Worldwide Fan Clubs claiming they have not met several payments they were contractually obliged to make. The band are seeking around £23,500 ($40,000) in compensation from the company. According to the lawsuit, Duran Duran and Worldwide Fan Clubs entered into business together in 2010, with it agreed that WFC would create and then manage the band’s fan club. They are responsible for sales and inventory of the group’s merchandise, collecting membership fees and maintaining records of their accounts. Duran Duran are said to receive 75 per cent of all profits but their lawyer says the company is yet to make some of these payments and has failed to keep accurate financial records.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Duran Duran confirmed they were working with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ John Frusciante on their new album.

A blog post on the band’s official website published in April was posted to clarify rumours circulating online about Frusciante’s involvement in the band’s upcoming studio effort. In the statement, which you can read below, the group state that they had wanted to keep news of the collaboration under wraps but were forced to confirm it by circumstance.

Despite working together, Frusciante is not in the studio with the members of Duran Duran, nor are there plans for him to tour with the group in the future. Duran Duran are working on their 14th studio album with producer Mark Ronson. It will be their first album since ‘All You Need Is Now’ in 2010.
