Robert Plant cancels Spanish tour dates
Plant was due to tour the country with his band The Sensational Space Shifters in July. However, an announcement on the singer’s website earlier this month (May 2) has revealed that the tour will not go ahead due to “scheduling conflicts.”
“It’s with regret to announce that due to scheduling conflicts, the Sensational Space Shifters have had to postpone their Spanish tour. Tickets can be refunded through local ticketing agents,” said the statement.
The statement conflicts with reports online that the singer has cancelled the tour due to “exhaustion.”
Plant is set to release a new solo album later this year and has said that the record will sound “alright at a Jamaican party”.
The Led Zeppelin frontman has signed to Nonesuch – home of The Black Keys and Conor Oberst – to put out the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Band Of Joy’. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Plant said of the record, due out September 9: “It’s really a celebratory record, but it’s very crunchy and gritty, very West African and very Massive Attack-y. There’s a lot of bottom end, so it might sound alright at a Jamaican party, but I’m not sure it would sound alright on [US radio network] NPR.”
Meanwhile, Plant recently ruled out the possibility of Led Zeppelin performing live any time soon. In an interview with the BBC about the forthcoming reissue of the band’s first three albums, guitarist Jimmy Page said he was sure fans would be keen for another reunion show like the one the band played at London’s O2 seven years ago.
When asked about the possibility of a show, however, singer Robert Plant said the chance of it happening was “zero”.
