Remastered Smiths back catalogue hits iTunes

The Smiths back catalogue has been remastered for iTunes and made available globally from today (February 12) to mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album. The Morrissey-fronted band released their self-titled debut in 1984 and to celebrate, Rhino have mastered all four of the Manchester act’s studio albums, ‘The Smiths’, ‘Meat Is Murder’, ‘The Queen Is Dead’ and ‘Strangeways, Here We Come’ , alongside releases such as the live album ‘Rank’ and compilations ‘Hatful of Hollow’ and ‘The World Won’t Listen’.
Earlier this week Morrissey published an outspoken blog post in which he accused members of the Royal Family of hypocrisy for going on a hunting trip to Spain the day after launching United For Wildlife, a campaign to end the illegal hunting of animals.

The frontman will release a new album later this year. The album is expected to be released in the second half of 2014 with Morrissey currently working on the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Years Of Refusal’ in France with producer Joe Chiccarelli. The singer, who released his autobiography in October 2013, has signed a new, worldwide record deal with Universal Music’s US-based Harvest Records. In a statement, he said he was “thrilled” to sign the contract.
