Mick Taylor to join The Rolling Stones for 2014 tour

The band will perform live in Abu Dhabi on February 21, 2014, before heading out on the road across the Far East and Asia to play three shows in Tokyo and a one-off show in Macau. They will then travel to Australia and New Zealand for one-off shows in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Hanging Rock, Brisbane and Auckland. Two further shows in Asia are expected to be announced shortly.

Mick Taylor, who was a member of the Rolling Stones from 1969-1974, will be a special guest for the tour, which is titled ’14 On Fire’.

The band’s last gigs were in July this year (2013), when they played two sold-out headline dates at London’s Hyde Park, however the band are yet to announce any further UK dates.

Ronnie Wood previously discussed plans for a world tour in 2014 earlier this year. “While the big wheel is rolling we are going to capture it before it stops totally,” he said. Wood added that the band were overwhelmed by the reaction to their 50th anniversary gigs, which included their debut performance at Glastonbury festival. “Everybody had a smile on their face, which was brilliant,” he said.

Last month (November), the band released their Hyde Park gig on DVD and Blu-Ray in November. The film, titled ‘Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live’, captured the band’s full performance, a full two-hour set plus backstage footage. A live album recorded during the shows is also available.
