Lou Reed extends Sony/ATV deal

Lou Reed has extended his relationship with Sony/ATV by signing a new, long-term global deal. The new agreement covers Reed’s entire catalogue, including his Velvet Underground songs and solo work such as Perfect Day, Walk On The Wild Side and Satellite Of Love. Previously part of EMI Publishing, which is now administered by Sony/ATV, he has now been with the company for more than 20 years.

Sony/ATV chairman and CEO Marty Bandier described Reed as “an iconic storyteller and a music innovator”. “His influence can be heard in music today and we are thrilled to continue to work with such a prolific artist,” he said.

Reed himself noted: “I have had a harmonious relationship in the past with EMI and now with Sony and it is a reason to stay with them. That and the great work they have done with my catalogue.”

His worldwide manager Tom Sarig said he and Reed were thrilled to be working worldwide with Bandier and Sony/ATV president, UK and European creative Guy Moot and “the stellar team which they have assembled”.

“I look forward to working closely with the Sony/ATV Music Publishing team in taking Lou Reed’s publishing catalogue to never-before-reached heights and exposure around the world,” he added.
