ANATHEMA LAUNCHES “UNTOUCHABLE, PART 2” CLIP FROM “UNIVERSAL” BLU-RAY

The UK’s heralded rock group, Anathema, has posted a clip of the song “Untouchable, Part 2” from its upcoming live Blu-ray/DVD/CD release Universal on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRt0Ug5WweE and Vimeo at: https://vimeo.com/channels/anathemamusic. Universal, a concert film on Blu-ray and CD/DVD capturing a special one-off gig at the ancient Roman theatre of Philippopolis, is due out September 17 on Kscope.

Directed by acclaimed photographer/filmmaker Lasse Hoile (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), the film and album package the magic of this unique evening where the band was joined by the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra to kick off a lengthy world tour in support of its most successful album Weather Systems.

The mini-site for Universal is now online at: http://www.kscopemusic.com/anathema/, complete with a video trailer, a live clip of the track “Thin Air” from the album’s bonus content and more.

A limited mail-order fan’s-edition set, featuring bonus audio content and footage of the band recorded at the Union Chapel in London, is now available to pre-order from the Kscope store at: https://www.burningshed.com/store/kscope/product/272/4952/.

The concert is also available on the vinyl release Untouchable, which is already shipping from the Kscope store at: https://www.burningshed.com/store/kscope/product/272/4729/.

The release of Universal will coincide with the band’s first ever North American tour, a co-headlining run with Alcest and special guest Mamiffer, beginning next week.

“I can’t wait,” said Anathema vocalist/guitarist Vincent Cavanagh. “Such a cool line up – three bands that move in different spheres while sharing the intent to create music that is honest, forward-thinking and uninhibited.

“I first met Stéphane from Alcest last year, discussing ’90’s shoegaze bands in a forest in Lithuania! He is someone for whom I have great respect. Their music is melodic and soulful, full of dream-like imagery.

“Mamiffer are true artists. The dynamic mix of stark piano, crushing melancholic textures and choral reverie is something to behold. Exactly the kind of thing I’m into, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Anathema has only performed twice as a full band in North America, at the infamous Milwaukee Metal Fest in 2000 and 2001, as well as supporting a few dates of Blackfield’s 2011 tour as an acoustic duo.

The upcoming co-headlining tour will see the band play many cities in both the U.S. and Canada for the first time, beginning September 12 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Anathema has been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement since its inception. The band began its journey as a pioneer of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow, before outgrowing all genres and limitations and fearlessly exploring new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.
