Mike Flynn has been named Senior Vice President, A&R and Staff Producer for the Capitol Music Group, it was announced by Capitol Records President, Dan McCarroll. In his new position, Flynn will draw upon his broad experience as an A&R Executive and Platinum-selling producer to sign, develop and produce artists for the CMG labels. He will be based in Hollywood, California in the company’s iconic Capitol Records Tower.

Flynn comes to Capitol after nine years as a senior A&R Executive and Staff Producer for Epic Records, a position he achieved after originally being signed to the label as a recording artist. In a career spanning 15 years, Mike has worked with a diverse array of artists, including The Fray, Cher Lloyd, Sara Bareilles, Sean Kingston, The Script, John Mellencamp, Howie Day, and Matisyahu. His production work on The Fray’s albums How to Save a Life and The Fray helped the band sell more than five million albums and 15 million singles worldwide.

According to Steve Barnett, “I had the pleasure of working with Mike for many years previously, and I’m thrilled to have him back on my team. He is that rare music executive that not only has an ear for artistry and commercial appeal, but impeccable skills as a producer to bring out the best in the artists he works with. We welcome Mike to the Capitol Music Group and look forward to his contributions in building our artist community, here.”

McCarroll added, “I’ve known Mike for years and have always wanted to work together. He is a fantastic producer and great with artists. I’m thrilled to have him as a part of our team.”

“It is an amazing opportunity to be part of rebuilding such a legendary music company as the Capitol Music Group,” Flynn commented. “What an honor to be back working with Steve Barnett; he gave me my first opportunities to succeed in the music business, and is simply one of the very best record executives. He is assembling a group of talented people with a shared vision for the future of the music industry. I look forward to breaking new artists with Steve, Dan, Gregg Thompson, Michelle Jubelirer and the entire CMG team.”
