THERA – everywhere, all at once
Czech singer-songwriter THERA, who is only 19 years old, has developed a unique dark-pop personality. Being able to move from dream pop, electronic pop, dark rock, and atmospheric ballads can be heard everywhere. These versions, which are presented as live recordings, also show her voice talent and songwriting wide range.
- “Deja vu (live)” begins with melancholic vocals and a gentle beat, followed by warm bass, bluesy electric guitar, and exotic percussion. An ethereal mood is created by the dreamy production, which is reminding us of Florence + The Machine, and the guitar’s Santana-like sound.
- “fate (live)” opens with bright synths characteristic of the 1980s with a distinct Depeche Mode influence. As the song develops, it acquires a contemporary feel with some Paramore-like alternative-rock adrenaline thanks to multilayered vocals and heavier guitar melodies.
- “rain (live)” is a beautiful pop ballad featuring unusual synths and powerful vocal melodies. The arrangement focuses on THERA’s expressive voice, giving the performance an emotional and private atmosphere.
- “do you see? (live)” returns to the dream-pop vibe with airy, darkly romantic melodies and gentle rock guitars. The sophisticated arrangement and powerful vocals make this one of the EP’s best moments.
- “guardian angel (live)” begins with piano and establishes a nostalgic atmosphere, drawing inspirations from Evanescence to Kate Bush. The result is a lovely and dramatic pop ballad that allows the vocals to take center stage.
- “break the rules (live)” changes the tone with lyrical vocals pushing the song ahead and electric guitars providing the tempo. The song has a carefree, youthful vibe thanks to its rebellious lyrics about leaving school and disobeying the rules.
- “rewind (live)” concludes the EP with an additional dreamy pop performance that mixes THERA’s ethereal singing style with polished production and soft-rock background.
Overall, for such a young artist, it shows amazing flexibility. THERA creates an integrated musical universe where nostalgia and modern pop production collide, ranging from 1980s synth-pop and dark rock to dream pop and melancholy piano ballads. These songs also have an organic quality due to the live atmosphere, which makes the EP a ccol introduction to a talented artist.
