Then Comes Silence – Judgement Day

Then Comes Silence returns with “Judgement Day,” the first song from their upcoming album Requiem Ballroom, which will be released on Metropolis Records. The track develops a dark, futuristic mood, beginning with EBM-inspired synths and moving to loud guitars with a sound typical of Killing Joke and early-2000s The Orgy industrial rock. The vocals create a threatening, dark tone, while the production intelligently prioritises groove, dynamics, and suspense over excessive loudness. As the song develops, the synths and guitars combine to create a powerful post-punk/industrial vibe, with Gary Numan-like electronics giving a futuristic touch. A little guitar solo about 2:16 adds another highlight before the track fades into electronic darkness. Lyrically, “Judgement Day” explores guilt, consequences, and the idea of avoiding the unavoidable, with the refrain “We’ll be the first to go” functioning as a warning ritual. The contrast between the rhythmic melody and the words about regret and mortality gives the song a particularly dramatic character. Overall, this is a strong mix of post-punk, EBM, and industrial rock, with enough melodic parts to make the darkness “acceptable.” The cinematic atmosphere and constant groove make it particularly attractive to listeners who like music that is both groovy and dangerous…
