“Never Too Late” begins the album with calming piano notes that develop into a pleasant pop arrangement. The melody remains lovely and tender, supported with minor pop/rock elements and honest, very direct lyrics. The second song, “Sometimes,” follows similar melancholy path. The vocals take on a storytelling aspect, with elements of pop, folk, and jazz. Lyrically focused on heartbreak, the song flows smoothly, enhanced by gospel-like vocal layers that offer depth and richness. The combination of piano and soulful vocal lines creates a seductive indie-folk vibe. The third tune, “Highlands,” continues the piano-driven basis while diving into nostalgia. Its lyrics bring up dynamic, almost cinematic visuals, and a beautiful vocal performance transforms the track to a gentle and melancholy ballad. With “Party People,” the album temporarily changes speeds. Electronic elements bring a more dynamic, groove-driven sound, while the lyrics celebrate a carefree atmosphere, promoting “brotherhood” and the simple joy of letting go, as said in the chorus line, “we are all party people.””Gotta Feeling” stands out as one of the album’s most electrifying moments. Moving away from the main piano, it pushes toward alt-rock and classic rock sounds, with guitars that slightly recall Neil Young’s. The rest of the album mostly returns to its ballad-driven roots, with precise melodies and beautiful piano arrangements that continually define the musical atmosphere. Overall, Out Of The Blue is a polished and highly driven release. If you want folk-inspired melodies covered in pop sophistication with touches of jazz, this album provides a warm, and really wonderful listening experience.
