Tom Katz – Forever

With “Forever,” Tom Katz creates an ambient and slowly unfolding song based on 1980s-inspired soundscapes and experimental rock ideas. From the beginning, the soundtrack captures the complex patterns of Roxy Music’s 1980s work, combining beauty with minimal audio exploration. The composition progresses at a relaxed tempo, allowing the layered orchestration to flow. Electric guitars play an important part, creating vibrant and almost theatrical pictures with precisely created harmonics and phrasing. Instead of depending on instant hooks, the song develops its character through mood and slow progression. Around 1:30 in, the storyteller’s vocals come out, adding an avant-garde dimension to the song. The spoken word feels near but disconnected, drawing the listener deeper into the song’s abstract storytelling universe. From this point forward, the music leans more towards psychedelic and ambient sound, allowing for a more intense and mindful listening experience. By the end, “Forever” has fully embraced its ambient path, turning into a fluid, dreamy soundtrack.
