“Demise” begins with spaced-out guitar sounds that immediately remind us of Pink Floyd’s early adventurous spirit, creating a drifting, cosmic mood. As the vocals enter the mix, the track moves into a more realistic but creepy zone, with a post-punk and avant-garde sadness like that of Swans. As the music develops, layers of hallucinogenic jazz and experimental percussion appear, complementing a narrative-driven vocal performance that feels almost cinematic. The arrangement is unexpected but organised, with each new piece contributing to an increasing feeling of anxiety and enigma. Around the 2:30 point, the guitar speeds up considerably, pushing the tune into heavier audio zone that points at doom and post-rock vibes. The sound becomes crushing and psychologically tense, resulting in a self-destructive aura of darkness and melancholy. What truly defines “Demise” is its ongoing evolution. The music refuses to fall into a solid structure, instead changing endlessly while keeping a constant tension that lasts till the end.
