Mickey Lyxx – Gates Of Buda
Gates Of Buda is a strong and uncompromising heavy metal attack inspired by the Siege of Buda (1686), a historic battle characterised by tension, sacrifice, and courage. Jill Gioia (former Trans-Siberian Orchestra) offers powerful vocals, Steve MacQueen provides thunderous drumming, and Joe Marselle’s polished mix and master perfectly catches the song’s unstoppable drive. Musically, the track is greatly influenced by old power metal norms, combining the precision of Judas Priest and the absolute heaviness of Warlock while constantly pushing beyond the limits of speed metal. The guitars take over the mix, emphasising technical precision, lightning-fast riffs, and burning passion. The production is excellent, loud without being overwhelming, and with a mastering level that increases impact but preserves clarity. The accompanying promotional video enhances the whole concept by physically depicting a battlefield that corresponds to the lyrical concepts and expands the song’s epic story. Jill Gioia’s resistant female vocals successfully represent the chaos and anger of war, contributing to the aggressive mood and explosive performance. This is straightforward heavy metal at its most violent, technical, and battle-ready. Too heavy? That depends on whether you are capable of handling loud heavy metal!
