Mike Shouse – Jaded

Mike Shouse, a guitar virtuoso, returns with Jaded, an instrumental tour de force that confirms his place among the greats of modern guitar-driven rock. Shouse, accompanied by great shredders Tony MacAlpine, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, and Michael Angelo Batio, creates an album that is a technical showcase and a creative trip into the electric worlds of hard rock and heavy metal. The listener is thrown into a storm of precision and intensity from the first track, “Jaded”. The riffs are brilliant, the phrasing complex, and the solos both outstanding and strongly energetic. “Bucket of Bolts” seems like an ecstatic machine starting up, with each note acting as a spark in the engine of controlled disorder. “Smiley Faced Emoji” has a little humorous but highly complex style, with melodies changing and unexpected turns that keep you fascinated. Finally, “Let’s Go” acts as a call to arms, a high-octane conclusion that perfectly sums up the album’s spirit: experimental, technically strong, and openly loud. What differentiates Jaded is not only its outstanding guitar work, but also how it achieves an appropriate balance between complexity and flow. Every solo requires careful listening, and each composition reveals new details with repeated listening. It’s an album for individuals who enjoy spending time in sounds made of strings and steel, which are chaotic but controlled, and completely mind-blowing.
