Messiness – Eternal Unbound
Messiness’s “Eternal Unbound” unfolds like a beautiful dream, with a lovely mix of jazz-rock elegance and psychedelic melancholy. The project, led by Max Raffa and featuring Rosario Lo Monaco (guitars), Filippo La Marca (keyboards), Giovanni Calella (bass), and Luca Anello (drums), maintains the spirit of 1960s experimental music while rooted in the vibrant harmonies of modern indie rock. The song begins with a beautiful, jazz-influenced melody that recalls The Doors’ mystical mood before changing into a Tame Impala-style space-rock soundtrack. The interaction of the guitars and keyboards gives an impression of flying movement, a cosmic pulse that is old and futuristic. Each instrument contributes to the story: the bass gives the piece rhythmic weight, the drums create complicated but dynamic patterns, and the vocals move through the mix like a message from an alternate dimension. The lyrics to “Eternal Unbound” are beautiful and enigmatic. Lines such as “Let the sands of time drown you in the sound” and “Am I truly present, or I’m in the rear?” represent an eternal battle between presence and dissolution, self and eternity.
