Ashot Danielyan – Australian Dawn

“Australian Dawn” begins with a nostalgic piano take “dressed” in elegant reverb, creating a mindful and almost dramatic mood. As the opening continues, a sensitive beat enters the mix, accompanied by warm, jazz-inspired basslines typical of the softer side of the 1980s. The pace of this song is slow, bringing the listener into the atmospheric world it describes rather than driving him to the dance floor. As the composition develops, it takes on a 1990s dance feeling, nearly between ambient and new age, without completely resulting in to club vibes. Instead, Danielyan uses rhythm as a stylistic element, allowing the track’s dreamy atmosphere to take priority. The inclusion of violin lines adds sophistication and dimension, expanding the cinematic range while producing powerful thoughts. The groove is there nevertheless invisible, always balanced by the dreamy, reverbed production. Rather than pushing the listener to the present, the music keeps them in a state of peaceful movement, drifting rather than running. Throughout, the piano acts as the base, with beautiful notes guiding the listener through every change in mood and sound. Ultimately, “Australian Dawn” is a challenging and beautifully controlled instrumental composition. It manages to cross over many eras and genres, combining ambient, jazz, and dance, while remaining focused on expressive storytelling through sound.
