Celeste Corsano – Sunlight Gazing
Celeste Corsano’s “Sunlight Gazing” is a poetic rock song that remembers the attraction of late-’70s and early-’80s progressive and art rock. The song’s lyrics represent the feeling of separation and reflection, surrounded by a wonderful combination of soft rock music and emotional vocal performance. The music begins with calm piano and softrock elements, creating an atmospheric vibe. Corsano’s voice arrives like a gentle wave, half-way between Kate Bush’s theatricality and Grace Slick’s raw style. Her vocal lines are colorful and expressing the bizarre words with passion and mystery. Musically, the track leans toward soft rock with 1980s-style synth themes, resulting in a lush but controlled soundtrack. Minor progressive rock and AOR components appear, giving the track a nostalgic vibe. The end result is a beautiful mixing of styles, with every component contributing to the song’s sense of emotional isolation. Lyrically, “Sunlight Gazing” presents an obvious representation of someone rejecting the loudness of a narcissistic presence, “You like to hear yourself talk,” in favor of peace and self-awareness. Lines like “Smoke from a fire not lit yet, voices fade” are beautiful, emphasizing the brief nature of trouble and the peace found in isolation.
