Ecce Shnak – Fight Song (live)
Ecce Shnak’s “Fight Song (Live)” is only 1 minute and 43 seconds long, nevertheless it creates an indelible impact due to its sophisticated structure and experimental complexity. The tune, recorded live in the studio, explodes with post-hardcore guitar work and punk-inspired fury, presented through an outraged mix of male and female vocals that express a rebellion. Beneath the distortion and mayhem comes a very intelligent composition. For those willing to listen attentively, the influence of progressive titans such as Robert Fripp develops, rooted into the structure of the guitar lines through complicated phrasing and aggressive rhythms. At the same time, the song has the constant energy of Rage Against the Machine, which is a combination of protest and performance art. “Fight Song (Live)” resists straightforward categorization. It’s a punk song at heart, but with an amount of musical precision and ambition uncommon in the genre. Ecce Shnak provides something pleasantly different: a powerful, experimental musical statement wrapped into a somewhat audio punch. Enjoy!
