Ecce Shnak’s EP Shadows Grow Fangs is an adventurous, audio trip that combines experimental rock, funk, and dramatic performance to create a strange but spiritually attracting experience. The EP is, at its core, an explosion of musical ideas, artistic depth, and avant-garde unpredictability, pushing limits while maintaining a surprisingly solid line of poetic passion and sardonic humor. The first track, Prayer on Love, establishes the stage with a nostalgic guitar-driven atmosphere characteristic of 1970s rock, accompanied by vocals that bring back David Bowie’s dedicated storytelling. The combination of male and female vocals provides the song a mysterious, almost mystical quality that emphasizes its themes of love, destruction, and philosophical thinking. The ethereal soundscape acts as a starting point for the EP’s complex research of identity and meaning. Following that, The Internet adopts a humorous yet smart approach, combining electronic sounds with explosive guitar breaks and unpredictable, dramatic vocals that mirror Frank Zappa’s experimental creativity. The track deconstructs modern digital society with biting wit and a sense of controlled anarchy, focusing on humanity’s relationship with technology in a crazy but deep way. The title tune, Shadows Grow Fangs, opens with a bass-driven groove and funky guitar develops, showing a progressive rock atmosphere that easily changes into alternative rock style. Its changing tempos and unorthodox guitar work keep the listener on edge, leading to a dynamic listening experience that is  unpredictable. The song’s lyrical themes of fear and loneliness strike correct, providing significance to its intelligent music. Jeremy, Utilitarian Sadboy builds on the EP’s theatrical and eccentric energy, pushing deeply into funk rock with weird, dramatic vocal dialogues. The song contrasts between sardonic coldness and authentic relief from emotions, creating tension that increases its cruel Criticism of pragmatic values and human fragility. The unpredictable but controlled melodic changes make for an interestingly surprising listen, confirming the band’s belief in experimental rock’s endless possibilities. The final track, Stroll With Me, is an unexpected contrast to the rest of the EP, simplifying things to a beautiful acoustic ballad. Its philosophical lyrics and melodic simplicity make for an emotional ending, providing a moment of emotional catharsis after the chaotic ride that came before it. Shadows Grow Fangs is a complex EP that takes pleasure in its weirdness while providing moments of exquisite beauty and wisdom. Ecce Shnak creates a sound world in which theatricality meets honesty, and where humor and chaos mix with real feelings.
