Jack White to re-release 25,000 Document Records tracks via Third Man

Jack White is to release more than 25,000 blues tracks from Scottish independent label Document Records on remastered vinyl via his own Third Man Records.

White says he will make no profit from releasing the catalogue and that his aim is to make the rare recordings of pre-war and country blues accessible for everyone.

“It’s very important to American history and also to the history of the world,” he told BBC 6 Music.

The recordings include tracks by Mississippi Blues artist Charley Patton – regarded as the founder of the Delta Blues, Tommy Johnson, Ishman Bracey and Roosevelt Sykes.
