Eric Lanz – Millenium

Eric Lanz’s “Millennium” is an ambitious mix of electronic experimentation and melodic rock with a nostalgic and futuristic vibe. The tune begins with distorted voices and an almost extraterrestrial start that seems like entering an alternative dimension. This futuristic edge sets the tone before the main melody, which begins at 0:29 and combines 1980s melodic rock with electronic soundscapes characteristic of Depeche Mode. The French vocals provide a distinct surrealism to the song, recalling David Bowie’s ethereal and dramatic personality. This vocal technique works nicely with the music, increasing the track’s surreal atmosphere. However, the mix suffers  in the lower frequencies, where the bass and lower-end synthesizers produce a muddy sound that can mask some of the instrumentation’s layers. A little more clarity here would allow listeners to properly enjoy the interaction between the synth lines and hard rock riffs, which are among of the track’s greatest characteristics. Despite the mix weaknesses “Millennium” stands out for its creative ideas and unusual synth lines, which enhance the track’s rock core and provide it an extensive, complex sense.
