Pete International Airport – Sea of Eyes

“Sea of Eyes” by Pete International Airport, with music by Peter G. Holmström and vocals and lyrics by Alexander Hackett (Pang Attack), is an interesting composition that takes listeners into a surreal environment. The song combines darkwave elements, expressive melodies, and beautiful lyrics. It starts with a dark bassline that creates an ethereal atmosphere reminding of 1980s darkwave music. Hackett’s vocals provide a dimension of dark romance, recalling Marilyn Manson’s vocal style. The synth lines at 1:19 enhance the bizarre, dreamy mood, changing the track into something ethereal and psychedelic. The musical arrangement seems like a trip through an emotional environment, with each synth swell and bass pulse leading the listener deeper into the dark sounds “Sea of Eyes.” The mood is pleasantly sad but also dark and reflective, resulting in a sweet sorrow. Hackett’s lyrics cover themes of philosophical exploration, thought, and change. Phrases like “Do you want to see the sea?” and “Do you want to be free of this psychic violence?” create feelings of desire and wish for escape. The whispered fairytale portion at the conclusion focuses on the end of the world, both personally and globally, leaving the listener with a sense of bittersweet conclusion. Overall, “Sea of Eyes” is an attractive combination of darkwave, dream-pop, and poetic lyrics, providing listeners with an ethereal and hypnotic atmosphere.
