History Of Guns – What’s Buried (Will Rise)

History Of Guns’ “What’s Buried (Will Rise)” is an interesting study of the depths of the human psyche, packaged in a beautiful soundscape. The track’s dreamy synthesizers immediately draw you in, creating an ethereal mood that is both tempting and frightening. This dramatic prelude prepares the audience for an adventure into the darkest recesses of the mind, where the distinctions between conscious, subconscious, and unconscious blur. As the synthesizers fade into a minimalistic industrial rock arrangement, the song becomes more grounded, although still strange. The use of EBM (Electronic Body Music) components gives the song a vibrating brightness that pushes the listener forward even as it goes deeper into reflective areas. The band’s decision to keep the arrangement simple allows every section to breathe, providing a feeling of openness that increases the song’s emotional effect. The vocals are a prominent element, performed in the style of No Wave bands such as The Fall. The vocalist’s narrative is more than just the delivery of words; it is a performance that tells a dark and intriguing story. The lyrics, influenced by Freudian and Jungian ideas of repression, investigate the concept that the more we try to bury parts of ourselves, the more those repressed qualities reappear, often in unexpected and upsetting ways. This idea is reflected in the music, which seems like a dance between the bright and dark sides of oneself. The track’s dark undertones are juxtaposed with a music that, while mysterious, encourages movement—both physically and psychologically. It’s a meditative dance that encourages the listener to address buried aspects of their psyche.
