Electric Temple – Big Black Hole

“Big Black Hole,” Electric Temple’s debut song, provides a strong introduction to the band’s skills and potential. Bringing a wealth of experience and talent to their new project, the band is made up of veteran musicians Andrew Freeman (vocals, Last in Line, Lynch Mob, Offspring), Mike Duda (bass, W.A.S.P. ), Matt Starr (drums, Ace Frehley, Mr. Big, KIX), and guitarist/songwriter/producer Tony Childs (Shanghai). The song’s opening strong chords instantly bring to mind Alice In Chains’ gloomy, brooding vibe from the 1990s. With the addition of Freeman’s vocals, the song takes on an atmosphere reminiscent of hard rock from the 1980s, with obvious references to groups like Mr. Big and Firehouse. Grunge and vintage hard rock come together to produce a new sound that is at once nostalgic and modern. Every note of the song displays the band members’ skill, with each instrument expertly mixed into the overall mix. The performance’s dynamics and intensity are expertly caught thanks to the excellent production quality. With a melody that remains in your mind and an upbeat rhythm that encourages you to sing along or clap your feet, the refrain is especially memorable. At 2:21, the track features a standout guitar solo by Tony Childs that elevates the song to another level. The solo is technically impressive, blending melodic phrasing with complex runs that showcase Childs’ skill and creativity. This section not only gives the song more depth, but it also demonstrates how well the band can combine technical skill with melody. “Big Black Hole” stands out amidst the repetitive sounds that have dominated hard rock in recent years. Electric Temple has managed to create something fresh and exciting, and this track sets a high bar for what’s to come.
