Drew Robert Puzia Releases Full-Length Rock Opera “Anthem The Musical”

Las Vegas musician and visionary Drew Robert Puzia has released his latest opus, a full-length rock opera called “Anthem the Musical.” The musical is fully cast with rising stars and starlets brimming with talent, and celebrated a standout performance on November 2nd, 2012. The musical is based on a novella by the always-controversial Ayn Rand. Set in a dystopian future in which all independent thinking and creativity have long-since been banned, and in which the words ‘I’, ‘me’ and ‘mine’ are forbidden, “Anthem the Musical” is a tale of the individual’s triumph over oppression and collectivism.

Together with Art Director Katherine Toussaint, Puzia has molded “Anthem the Musical” into a fine collection of original tracks for this long-playing album. The album comes with a digital storybook detailing the symbolism and plot line of the story (much like the printed storybooks that accompanied rock operas on vinyl in the tradition of the nineteen-seventies). Overall, the tone is epic and large, a wall of sound that is both ambient and ostentatious. The guitar work is skillful without being pretentious, keyboards melodic without being gaudy. A simple visit to the “Anthem the Musical” website will suffice for an introduction to the tasteful orchestration of Puzia.

Puzia himself is a member of the Dramatists Guild. He has played, written and performed music nearly his entire life. Puzia was selected from thousands of songwriters and composers as a finalist in ABC Radio’s International Effigy Awards for Best-Overall Artist, Best Instrumental, and Best Male Vocalist. His song, “I Will Not Be Silent Anymore,” finished in the top 10 of nearly 500 songs entered in the Social Song Contest held by popular modern band, Enigma.
In Puzia’s own words, “Anthem the Musical” is about human beings who “wrestle with their inner conflict about society’s collective control over their lives, and eventually find a way to proclaim their own individual and independent selves in a new society of free-thinking people.”
