Coheed and Cambria postpones shows
New York progressive rockers COHEED AND CAMBRIA have been forced to postpone all of their previously announced headlining shows this month so that vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez can receive treatment for throat swelling.Commented Sanchez: “I am truly devastated to tell you that I [could not] perform [Monday night, October 22] in St. Louis and that we will be postponing all headline shows this week until after Thanksgiving.
“After holding off [Sunday] night, we felt confident I’d be good to go [on Monday], but I have spent all morning in a doctor’s office in St Louis where they did a full evaluation on my throat and found some swelling that could possibly cause some long-term damage if i continue without rest.
“I am flying back to New York to see my normal doctor and get fully on the mend.
“I know this is a big disappointment, especially for those of you in St Louis — it really hurts us to do this, but it’s what we have to do.”
COHEED AND CAMBRIA’s new album, “The Afterman: Ascension”, sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
“The Afterman” is being released in two separate full-length volumes. The first volume, “The Afterman: Ascension”, was made available on both physical and digital platforms in the U.S. on October 9 via Hundred Handed/Everything Evil, and distributed through Fontana/Ingrooves (available in Canada via Universal Music Canada). The second volume, “The Afterman: Descension”, is due in February 2013.
