Eagle Rock Entertainment Announces North American Multi-Title Visual Deal With Queen
Following the launch through Screenvision of the digitally restored and remixed 1986 film Hungarian Rhapsody – Queen Live in Budapest, rock legends Queen are showcased at their best during the band’s “Magic” tour, the very last they would play with Freddie Mercury. Eagle Rock Entertainment will be releasing the DVD and Blu-Ray of the film and the special editions, including the soundtrack CD, through Universal Music in November, but has also begun re-issuing the Queen visual catalogue.
Jim Urie, President and CEO of Universal Music Group Distribution, comments “As America’s premiere provider of music video products, it is apropos that Eagle Rock will be representing one of the great rock bands of all time, Queen, in America. We continue to be honored by the opportunity to be partners with Eagle Rock.”
“It gives Eagle North America a great feeling of pride to add the visual catalogue of Queen to our current DVD line-up of Queen releases: Queen Rock Montreal, Greatest Video Hits, and Night at the Opera Classic Albums. We look forward to bringing further previously released and never before released titles to the North American Market,” states Mike Carden, President Operations North America for Eagle Rock.
Geoff Kempin, an Executive Producer of the film, and with Terry Shand, co-founder of Eagle Rock Worldwide, says “Queen have always been a banner rock band for the visual world of music – the launch of the film here in the U.S. is the flagship for the announcement of the deal with Queen and we have great plans for the future”.
“Queen and Eagle are building on their already established television representation in North America by launching Queen’s audio visual catalogue on Eagle with the ‘Hungarian Rhapsody’ film on DVD and Blu-Ray. We are delighted to be working with Eagle on this wonderful concert film and look forward to the future releases from the Queen audio visual catalogue that will be coming out on Eagle” said Jim Beach, Manager of Queen and Executive Producer of Hungarian Rhapsody.
Adds Brian May and Roger Taylor “The concert looks fantastic on the cinema screen in all its digitally re-mastered glory and the documentary does a great job of setting the scene – it really was an extraordinary time in the band’s history”.
