Las Vegas Shock Metal Band I.D.S.F.A. Releases Flagship Self-Titled L.P.
I.D.S.F.A., a metal band from Las Vegas with heavy punk rock influences, has released their first full-length album on Carcass Garden Records to fan and critical acclaim. As evidence of the band members’ mixed backgrounds, the album has even-handed amounts of punk rock and metal, and is sure to please listeners with hardened ears and harder hearts. The record is spotlessly performed and surgically engineered, absolutely certain to garner a new army of I.D.S.F.A. fans. With their psycho-aggressive sound and jaw-dropping stage show (show is the only sufficient word) I.D.S.F.A. is sure to stand out for a long, long time. After all, they are the Vegas Rocks Music Awards first-place winners for Best Shock Rock Band
Their music has many of the best elements of the great metal bands of the late eighties and early nineties. It is more punch and charge than melody, and Guitarist Paul G. never strays too far from the headstock. Vocalist J. Bishop schizophrenically channels two personalities. One of these shouts frenetically with the angry pitch, repetition and phrasing of the 80s west coast punk vocalists, such as Casey Royer of D.I., while the other growls like Barney Greenway (Napalm Death) and madly addresses the audience like Dave Mustaine (Megadeth). Bass player TravisD. creates an atmosphere of insanity, too, with sniper precision and rapid, active movements on the neck of his guitar – which guitar, it must be noted, literally bleeds what appears to be living blood. To call their rhythm up-tempo would be saying far too little. Drummer Lowen H. is a human jackhammer with a double-kick style that sounds like a machine gun firing mortar shells.
Their stage performance, however, bares especial examination. Flanking the instrumentalists are the “Bio-Bastards:” Slink moves behind the retina-melting array of lights; Drab and Sploch are twin monsters who appear in a variety of personas to pantomime all that is destructive about humanity – just for fun. Sometimes they are the infected in hazmat outfits. Sometimes they are gas-masked freaks. Sometimes they are cleft-chinned, green army men. They play with fire, play with gore, play percussion on open, glowing drums of toxic waste, and sometimes wheel out an 8′ anti-aircraft cannon to shoot a variety of mayhem upon the audience. I.D.S.F.A.’s stage show isn’t the zany cartoon style of GWAR’s nor the obnoxiousness of Insane Clown Posse’s, though. It’s raw, honest, adrenaline-fueled music with a lot of humor and a titanic amount of entertainment.
IDSFA will be at Sunset Blvd.’s world-famous Whisky A Go-Go on September 2, 2012 to celebrate their Official California CD Release Party. Guest list invitations are available for A&R representatives upon request. Please send requests to idsfaband@gmail.com
